School Portrait FAQ

Why should I purchase a pre-order package?

Pre-ordering offers:

  • Lowest pricing on portrait packages and digital files
  • No shipping fee — packages are delivered to the school
  • Eligibility for retakes on Makeup Day
  • Refund option for physical packages (digital files excluded)

Ordering online after picture day allows you to view images before purchasing. Online orders are shipped directly to your home (shipping charges apply).



When will my pre-order package be delivered?

Pre-order packages are delivered to the school 3–4 weeks after Picture Day.
Online orders and reorders are shipped to your home 1–2 weeks after ordering.



I purchased a pre-order but didn’t receive it. What should I do?

Please check with your student to be sure the package isn’t in a backpack, locker, or desk. If it can’t be located, check with your school office.​ If it’s still missing, Contact Us with your student’s full name, grade, and school.

Can I see a proof before placing a pre-order?

No. Proofs are available online after Makeup Day.



Can I order after Picture Day?

Yes. Orders placed before proofs are online require contacting the studio and include a $5 late fee. Shipping charges may apply if school packages have already been delivered.



How do retakes work?

Only students who purchased a pre-order package are eligible for retakes on Makeup Day.
After Makeup Day, all portraits are posted online for viewing and ordering.

If you place an order and are not satisfied with the image, you can schedule a complimentary studio appointment at our Bethesda location or return your entire physical package for a refund.

Please note: Delivered digital files are not eligible for refund.

When are digital files delivered?

Digital files are delivered 3–4 weeks after Picture Day, around the same time pre-order packages are delivered.



What if I’m not satisfied with my order?

Physical packages may be returned unopened within 14 days of school delivery for a refund.
Digital files are non-refundable once delivered.



How do I access my child’s photos online?

You will receive a gallery link from your school when photos are available.



What if my package is damaged or missing items? 

 Please email info@stonephotography.com

  • a photo of the damage (if applicable)
  • the name on the order
